Whether it’s timber management, wildlife services or real estate, each department operates by maintaining focus on protecting and responsibly managing forests and their environments.
Commitment to Conservation
In 1884, Herbert Westervelt began a career in the paper industry, developing Prairie States Paper Corporation, now known as The Westervelt Company. Realizing the important of nature as a major resource in the paper making business, the Westervelt family instilled an appreciation for the environmental and its conservation.
Appreciation of conservation facilitated our evolution from manufacturing to a land resource management organization. With more than a half million acres of timberlands, we continue to grow, with the land serving as our guide. Today we focus on businesses which sustain our natural resources for the future.
More than a Century of Innovation
We are proud of our legacy of more than a century of stewardship, innovation and conservation. See the milestone accomplishments of The Westervelt Company’s history, whether it’s the forming our Forestry Division in 1948, the hiring of the first fish and game experts in a private industry in the southeast in 1956 or the beginning of our tree breeding program in 1968.
